The Keys to Gramercy Park by Candice Sue Patterson is a delightful blend of history, romance, and mystery. While the intriguing plot kept me turning pages, Candice's beautiful writing is what truly captivated me. For example, her descriptions are vivid and memorable, such as, "It sprouted a tumbleweed of fear and doubt in her stomach."

Readers may find that same tumbleweed growing in their own stomachs as they worry over the villain's wicked schemes and wonder whether justice will ever prevail. A compelling and emotionally rich story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

When I read books, I gravitate toward historical romance fiction, since this is primarily what I'm writing these days. When I read a book, I can't get through it very quickly, because I'm often stopping to jot down lines I like. I keep a file of descriptive phrases to inspire my own writing. No, I don't plagiarize, but I read my favorites and they inspire me to think more creatively about other ways to express thoughts, feelings and actions in a story.
